About A to Z Dog Training
Training your dogs with love, understanding and expertise
Most dog trainers start their careers training dogs. Our owner, Tammy Nunes, began with marine mammals. Once you’ve taught dolphins, walruses, and whales to take a bow, you have all the skills you need to train the domesticated family dog—even one who seems stubborn or tough.
Tammy Nunes — The dog trainer’s dog trainer
With over 20 years experience training dogs and another 11 training marine mammals, Tammy knows exactly how to give your dog the clear direction she needs and give you back a family pet you can be proud of.
When Tammy Nunes graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a double major in biology and psychology, she knew she wanted to work with animals. Her first stop was a research internship at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Since then, her career has included 11 years working as an exotic animal trainer and a training facilities manager in the U.S, Tahiti, the Bahamas and Mexico and 20 years training dogs.
Making training fun for you and your dog
Tammy is an international speaker who has trained over 200 professional animal trainers in different countries around the world. She has also written training manuals. Her advice to anyone training a dog? Have fun and be consistent!
Throughout her career, Tammy’s emphasis has been on animal welfare, looking for new and innovative ways to keep the animals in her care amused and stimulated in order to enrich their lives. She uses scientifically proven methods to get results. She is both teacher and advocate of positive reinforcement training techniques, using toys, treats, affection and verbal praise to modify an animal’s behavior.
Our Boarding School program is taught in Tammy’s home outside Honolulu, where she lives with her husband, toddler and assorted pets.
Raelynn Michalowicz — Class Trainer
Raelynn is a graduate from the Animal Behavioral College. She has been surrounded by animals since the day she was born.
Her love for animals grew as she helped bottle feed kittens and puppies, rescued her two dogs and cat, and volunteered at her local shelter. She became interested in working with animals when she got out of high school and started hearing about puppy mills and dog fighting. When the news of the Vick dogs surfaced, she decided to take a stand for animals and make a difference.
Raelynn quit her job to work as a professional bather at Petsmart. When her husband’s job sent her to Hawai’i, she decided to get even more involved. She studied Dog Training and Vet Assistance through the Animal Behavior College, graduating from the Dog Training portion of her studies with honors. Raelynn conducts many of our dog training classes. She also conducts consultations and works with the Boarding School dogs. Her love and passion for dogs continues to grow.
What our clients say about A to Z Dog Training
“I took a reliable recall class and LOVED it!! I spent 7 years of my dog’s life hoping she would come to me when called. All it took was one class and two more classes to confirm what she learned. She not only comes to me when called, she is more attentive than ever!! Amazing that something so simple can work so well.”
